British American Tobacco Bangladesh received the Most Female-Friendly Organization Awardunder one of the Freedom Sanitary Napkin Inspiring Women Award categoriesat the Women Leadership Summit; aninitiative of Bangladesh Brand Forum. BAT Bangladesh tops the list for taking a holistic approach on women empowermentand promoting female leadership in the organization. This is the second accolade for BAT Bangladesh in this category.
ShehzadMunim, Managing Director and RumanaRahman, Head of HR, BAT Bangladesh received the awardat a ceremony held on March 10, 2018 at BangladeshShilpakala Academy.
“At BAT, we develop, nurture and reinforce women leadership andwe have successfully created a benchmark in Bangladesh for women with career aspirations”, said ShehzadMunim. “The female representation has doubled over the last 5 years and we want to take it further through various initiatives”, he added.
In addition, NusratJahanNitu, Junior Team Leader, GLT Operations, BAT Bangladesh received Honorable Mention in “Aspiring Women Leader” award category.
At present,14% of the total workforce comprises of female employees of which 32%is in managerial positions. In addition, 2 functional heads are part of the Top Management team while significant number of female managers holdsenior leadership roles inMarketing, Legal, HR, and Operations. The company ensures facilities and opportunities that hasencouraged over 20 executives and some managers to take up newer challenges outside Dhaka and at factories.
BATBangladesh hosts development programs like “Will to Lead”, alongsidepromotingwomen empowerment through diversity, equal work opportunity, flexible working hours, working-from home option, awareness campaign on health and wellness, maternity support, conflict resolution and grievance handling, guideline for workers on Behavioral Code, day care facilities for those with children’s, healthy sanitation, transportation of women and many more.
In last 3 years, six women leaders from various functions of BAT Bangladesh were awarded by Bangladesh Brand Forum in different categories.
